Bezique Events Limited · ICAEW-style Script Marker

This version follows the way ICAEW sample scripts are reviewed: marks are awarded by requirement and professional skill, using half-mark judgement, with examiner-style commentary supporting the mark.

100 marks total ES / OAC = 13 Main requirements = 87 AUI · SPS · AJ · C&R Half-mark entry

👨‍🎓 What feedback should tell the student

  • Show the student where marks were earned by requirement and by professional skill. This is more useful than only giving a total percentage.
  • Explain the main cause of lost marks: missing data, poor structure, weak judgement, thin recommendations, calculation errors, or failure to answer all parts of the requirement.
  • Use examiner-style language: “good number-work but insufficient evaluation”, “relevant ethical issue identified but not developed”, or “recommendation did not flow from the analysis”.
  • Prioritise the next action. A student on 46–49 needs different advice from a student on 60+ who needs refinement in AJ and C&R.

Professional skill guide

SkillWhat earns marksWhat loses marks
A&UIAccurate extraction, relevant calculations, clear appendices, correct use of exhibits and comparatives.Missing key data, unclear workings, arithmetic errors, irrelevant appendices, or calculations not tied to the requirement.
SP&SLogical structure, headings matching the requirement, analysis that links facts, numbers and business context.Unstructured lists, repeating figures without explanation, not covering all sub-requirements, or letting appendices replace analysis.
AJCommercial judgement, scepticism, implications, weighing alternatives, recognising uncertainty and risk.Taking management assumptions at face value, failing to benchmark, not identifying what the numbers mean for the board.
C&RClear conclusions and practical recommendations that flow from the analysis, including conditions and next steps.Generic recommendations, no final advice, advice unsupported by calculations, or conclusions that ignore key non-financial issues.
ES/OACBalanced summary of R1–R3, key numbers, key risks, clear recommendations and professional presentation.Copying the main report, omitting one requirement, overlong paragraphs, no recommendations, unclear appendices or poor tone.

Using this HTML marker

StepActionReason
1Enter student and tutor name, then load the student PDF script using the left panel. The final marked copy will include these details and the PDF filename.
2Read the PDF on the left. Open each requirement tab and tick only evidence that is demonstrably present in the script.Ticks auto-suggest marks at 0.5 per evidence point, capped at the box maximum. The tutor may override where professional judgement requires it.
3Review the auto-calculated half-mark score for each box. Each ticked evidence point counts as 0.5 marks, capped at the relevant box maximum.
4Add concise notes where the mark needs explanation. The best feedback explains why the same calculation can be worth different marks depending on interpretation and judgement.
5Review the Summary & Verdict tab by requirement and skill.Weaknesses often cluster by skill, especially Applying Judgement and C&R.
6Click Finish & Mark to download the marked HTML report. The app does not save to a server; download the report before closing the browser.
